Busy Programme in 2012 for TS Rebel
TS Rebel is looking forward to a busy 2012 training season with more than 75 courses being offered on its programme.
In addition to the popular RYA Start Yachting, Competent Crew, and Day Skipper courses for cadets the school is introducing weekend modular RYA offshore sailing courses for adult volunteers enabling them to achieve an offshore experience, and having it recognised with RYA certificates. Keelboat sailing and powerboat weekends, as well as yacht racing for cadets, are also on offer. Shorebased courses include RYA Day Skipper Theory, VHF Radio Operator and DofE Expedition Assessor.
Amongst the highlights of the season for cadets will be participation in both the Ramsgate Week International Regatta and the Felixstowe Regatta where racing yachts from TS Rebel will be proudly competing under the burgee of the Royal Naval Sailing Association.
TS Rebel vessels selected for Queen's Diamond Jubilee Pageant
Two vessels from the TS Rebel Cadet Sea School, based at Titchmarsh Marina in Walton on the Naze, have been selected to participate in the Queen’s Diamond Jubille Pageant on the River Thames in early June this year.
This event is expected to comprise the largest flotilla on the river in modern times with around 700 vessels participating. There were three applicants for every place with and the selection criteria applied by the organisers included safety and fitness for purpose.
The two cadet vessels will be embarking the Masters of both the Worshipful Company of Shipwrights and the Worshipful Company of Fuellers for the Pageant itself, which is expected to last four hours and to be witnessed by up to a million visitors to London as well as a World wide television audience.
Principal of the TS Rebel Cadet Sea School, Nick Moulton, said “We are delighted to have both boats selected for this prestigious event and also to be able to host representatives from two of our supporting organisations”. He added “We will be making the most of this four day, 200 mile round trip deployment conducting RYA Day Skipper training on both the outward and return trips.
TS Rebel, a recognised Royal Yachting Association training centre, provides more than 500 course places a year for members of the Sea Cadets.
